Enlargement of a residential villa

CHNL Architects got the commission for the enlargement of an existing villa, situated on the countryside in the east of the Netherlands. The house, consisting of a rectangular plan with a traditional pitched roof on top, has been extended on the back side (replacing a smaller, existing extension).

The actual owner already enlarged the archetypal house at it's back side, back in the eighties. During both extensions only the ground floor was enlarged.
